Elegant Card Designs with Lily Pond Lane Designer Series Paper

This template was definitely challenging for me. But, I have to say; I do like how all 3 of my cards turned out. Template #12 which is in the 2nd row, on the far left on page 22 of the Annual Catalog is the template this post is focused on. It looks as though the 2nd row of Templates are going to be more challenging than the top row.

Template #12

The Lily Pond Lane Designer Series Paper (DSP) was lots of fun to play with on this template. I knew I needed 3 circles of the same size and 1 larger circle. In my first card, I used the Spotlight On Nature dies along with the Lily Pond Lane DSP to make the circles.

Card #1
Card #2

In the 2nd card, I used a “busier” pattern from the Lily Pond Lane DSP for the background. I then pulled the colors in the DSP to make the circles from coordinating card stock. The circles were die cut using the Stylish Shapes Dies. I also placed a border on two sides of the DSP to make it stand out more.

Card #3

In card 3, I used another panel with a bigger design of the DSP and created coordinating borders as well. I also used card stock for the circles which are die cut from the Spotlight on Nature dies. I decided to use Pretty Peacock to die cut the large circle then heat embossed the greeting. I thought the Adhesive-Backed Dragonflies were perfect for the patterned paper I was using.

I used the same greeting on each card, it fit perfectly into the size of circle I wanted to use. The greeting comes from the stamp set, Autumn Expressions.

Measurements:

  • 4-1/4″ x 11″ – card base
  • 3″ x 5-1/2″ – front panel
  • 1/2″ x 5-1/2″ – borders (if you choose to use them)
  • 3″ x 3″ – die cut large circle
  • 2″ x 2″ – die cut 3 small circle

Instructions:

I started by adhering the 3″ x 5-1/2″ panel of DSP to the front of the card base. On cards 2 & 3 I adhered the 1/2″ x 5-1/2″ strips of card stock to the DSP front panel before I adhered to the card front. I die cut the 3 small circles and the 1 large circle. I stamped the greeting in Pretty Peacock ink. I adhered 2 of the small circles to the card base and then the remaining small circle and the large circle were adhered with Dimensionals. On card 3, I embossed the greeting before adhering to the card base. I also stamped the frog sitting on the lily pad, colored with Stampin’ Blends and then die cut before adhering to the card.

Product List

All 3 cards are actually very easy to make. To me, the first card is always the hardest as I try to figure the template out, which papers to use and size of die cuts. One of the best things about Stampin’ Up! is the coordination of products. On the back of each pack of Designer Series Paper, Stampin’ Up! has listed the colors that go best with that pack of paper. That makes it so easy!

I’d love to know if you tried this card in the comment section. If I can help you with any of your Stampin’ Up! needs, please feel free to reach out.

I’d like to ask a favor of you if you don’t mind. Would you please share my blog post with a crafty friend? I’d like to grow my audience so that I could possibly start creating videos to go along with these cards.

I hope you have a stamp-happy day! Up next…..template #13!
