Using Designer Series Paper for Stunning Cards

Template #13

Oh my, I did not enjoy this template. Fortunately, using the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Stampin’ Up! helped make this card quick, easy and stunning! Abstract is not my style, I’m to OCD for it! I like clean cut cards so this was definitely a challenge for me!

First attempt using the Thoughtful Journey DSP
2nd attempt using the Splendid Autumn DSP
Inside of this card
I used the same DSP to cover the envelope flap
3rd attempt using the 2024 – 2026 In Color DSP

Measurements:

  • 4-1/4″ x 11″ – card base
  • 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ – top DSP
  • 3″ x 4-1/4″ – middle DSP
  • 1″ x 4-1/4″ – bottom DSP
  • 1-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ – greeting

Instructions:

I started by adhering the 3″ x 4-1/4 (the middle panel) to the bottom of the card base. Then I tore the bottom piece of DSP from the top left towards the right side. I adhered this directly over the first piece of DSP. I tore the top piece of DSP at the bottom from right to left. It’s important to tear in the correct direction so you get the “white” or center of the DSP showing.

Once the front pieces of DSP were adhered, I stamped the “tag” with my greeting and adhered to the top right of the card. On the 2nd & 3rd cards, I used Dimensionals and like that look much better. I also flagged the greeting on the 3rd card, just a variation of the template. For the first card, I used Pretty Peacock Ink. For the 2nd card, I used Garden Green Ink

For the 3rd card, I cut the card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and turned the card in a landscape direction. Since I used a “colored” card base, I didn’t use a 2nd piece of DSP which now, I think would have looked better. I did use the back of the DSP for the top of the greeting and the inside of the card. I stamped the greeting in Peach Pie Ink.
