Fabulous Handmade Cards Using Templates from Stampin’ UP!

Template #14

Definitely an easier template than the last template! These templates are located on page 22 of Stampin’ Up!’s annual catalog. My mind is going crazy with ideas as I start working on this template. I have created 4 Fabulous Handmade Christmas cards using this template from Stampin’ Up!

Quick and Easy card #1

This first card would be so easy to make multiples of. I started with a Basic White card base that measured 4-1/4″ x 11, scored at 5-1/2″. I added a panel of Real Red that measured 4″ x 5-1/4″. I adhered a panel of Designer Series Paper from Take a Bow that measured 3″ x 4-1/4″. Using Real Red ink, I stamped the greeting from the Reindeer Fun stamp set. I popped it up with Dimensionals. Simple, easy, quick and fun!

Card #2, taking it up a notch

For card #2, I started off embossing the white panel with the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder – my favorite folder! I adhered this panel to the card base and then adhered the panel of DSP over the top. I used Granny Apple Green and Garden Green card stocks to make the holly with the dies from Reindeer Fun. I used Real Red to die cut the berries for the center of the holly. I added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels to each berry to give it a bit of glam!

Card 3 was even more fun to create, did I mention that this is a great template? I used the same embossing folder on this card but used Granny Apple Green card stock. I cut 1/8″ from the top and one side of this panel so I could layer it with a panel of Basic White card stock. I also cut 1/8″ from the top and one side of the DSP panel to fit onto the Basic White panel. I adhered this completed panel to the card base with Dimensionals. I stamped the greeting in Real Red ink and then re-stamped the greeting using Versamark Ink. I used Clear embossing powder and then set with the Heat Tool. I backed the greeting with 1/2″ strip of Real Red card stock. I then fussy cut a deer from the DSP and popped him up on the front of the card with Dimensionals. I finished the front of the card with the new (and back in stock), Real Red & White Peppermints embellishments.

Inside of card #3

For the inside of the card, I stamped the greeting in Real Red ink. Next, I fussy cut several deer from the edges of the Reindeer Days DSP and then adhered them to this panel before adhering to the inside of the card. I love to fussy cut and don’t like to waste any of the DSP so using the edges makes the inside of this card even more fun and fabulous.

Card #4

For card #4, I decided I wanted to use the new Season of Elegance Designer Series Paper which I hadn’t used yet. I also thought using the Gold Foil would make a great border. I started by adhering a panel of Gold Foil that measured 4″ x 5-1/4″ to the front of the card base. I then cut a piece of Mossy Meadow card stock 3-3/4″ x 5″ and ran it through the Die Cut & Emboss machine with the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder. I cut a piece of DSP to measure 2-5/8″ x 3-7/8″. I adhered this panel to a panel of Gold Foil that measured 2-7/8″ x 3-5/8″. I popped this panel up using Dimensionals.

Next, I used one of the dies from the Peaceful Season dies to create a background for the greeting. I stamped the greeting using VersaMark ink, sprinkled Gold Embossing Powder over it and then heat set with the Heat Tool. The greeting was adhered directly to the Gold, die cut piece. I used a piece of 1/2″ wide, Iridescent ribbon and threaded it through each end of the die cut trimming the ends a bit. I popped this up on Dimensionals as well. To finish, I added a few Blooming Pearls to the front of the card.

Inside of card #4

I wanted the inside of the card to be a bit more elegant so I started with a panel of Basic White that measured 3-3/8″ x 4-1/2″. I stamped the inside greeting in Mossy Meadow ink. I had a 1/4″ strip of the DSP left over so I adhered it to the left side of this panel. This panel was adhered to a Gold Foil panel that measured 3-5/8″ x 4-3/4″ which was then adhered to the inside of the card.

My first 3 cards are very whimsical but I wanted to try a more “elegant” approach to this template. I’m loving how the 4th card turned out. It resembles the original template but just puts out a different vibe from the first 3 cards. Just goes to show that templates are meant to be a “starting” point and from there, you create as you wish!
