Stampin’ Up! Bag of Bones Easy Faux Step Card

A Faux Step Card is quite easy, especially when the Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Stampin’ Up! does the work for you. The DSP provides the background as well as the skeleton and the cat skeleton. I stamped the greeting, “Bone-Jour” in Versamark ink and used white embossing powder along with the “heat tool” to keep everything coordinated.

If you want to take a basic card up a notch, the Faux Step Card is for you! I highly recommend the Bag of Bones bundle from Stampin’ Up! which includes the stamp set and the coordinating dies but also get the DSP and the Glow in the Dark Bats & Ghosts. I used each of these items in this card.

Measurements:

  • Basic Black cardstock 5 1/2″ x 8″ score at 3″, 6″, & 7″
  • Basic Black cardstock 3′ x 6 1/2″ score at 4 1/4″
  • DSP “Them Bones” 2 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ and 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ (you will also need to die cut the human skeleton and the cat skeleton)
  • Basic White cardstock 2 3/4″ x 5 1/4″

After I cut and scored all my cardstock and the DSP, I adhered the DSP to the front of the “tent” and to the front of the card base. Then I adhered the “tent” to the front of the card base with 2 strips of Tear & Tape. I placed 2 more strips of Tear & Tape to the other end of the “tent”. Lay the card flat and adhere the back of the tent to the card base.

I used the top right section for the card base and the bottom left for the “tent”

I attached the 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ strip of DSP to the front, bottom edge of the card base. Then I die cut from the DSP, a human skeleton, a cat and a dog skeleton. I added the human skeleton and the cat skeleton to the card base with Dimensionals. I also added 3 Glow in the Dark Bats to the top of the bats on the front of the card base.

Time for some stamping, I stamped the greeting, “Bone-Jour” on Basic Black cardstock with VersaMark ink, added white Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool. I flagged both ends with my Paper Snips. Next, I stamped the Happy Halloween on the 2 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White panel with VersaMark ink, added black Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool. I adhered the dog skeleton with Multipurpose Liquid Glue to this panel and then adhered it to the back of my card and voila – done! Easy peasy!
