Fun and Versatile Card Designs with Stampin’ Up! Template #5

Template #5

The hardest part about creating a card using a template is to figure out the paper sizes to make it work. I always start with scrap paper and “guesstimate” the size of each layer starting at the bottom and working my way to the top. That’s easiest for me but you don’t have to do it my way. There is a lot of trial and error involved. I cut pieces of scrap paper according to my thoughts on sizing and make adjustments from there. My sizes are adjustable to fit your own creativity. Stampin’ Up! Template #5 makes for a fun and versatile card designs.

Made using the retired, “Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper

My first card for Stampin’ Up! Template #5 used the retired Designer Series Paper called Flight & Airy. I love this paper, not just for the birds but the colors as well. My bottom layer is the back side of the middle layer (rectangle) so I know that it will coordinate nicely. The hardest part about this card was trying to figure out which greeting to use. I can always use thank you or birthday cards!

To make the banner, I measured from side to side to find the middle at both the top and the bottom. I made a small cut up 3/8″ and then cut from one edge to the center cut. I made a 2nd cut from the other side to the center. I did the same thing at the top and bottom.

This is what we call a SIP card, it uses only Stamp, Inks and Paper

For the 2nd card, I used a Real Red card stock for the card base which coordinated with the To Market, Designer Series Paper (DSP). The paper is beautiful but I didn’t have the stamp set or dies so I thought this would be great for this particular card.

I’ve taken this card up a notch by adding more layers, textures and embellishments

For the 3rd card using the 5th template, I decided to take it up a notch by adding 2 background layers, one of which was embossed with the Dashing Designs 3D Embossing Folder and then added some embellishments. All layers were glued on except for the greeting which was adhered with Dimensionals.

This is a really fun template with so many possibilities. Stampin’ Up! makes every card easier with the way everything is coordinated. The colors of the card stocks work so well with the DSP.
