Stampin’ Up! Hippest Hippos, I Miss You

The Stampin' Up! Hippest Hippos stamp set is used to highlight each of the 3 different hippos. I miss you is a greeting from the Amazing Phrasing stamp set. The hippos are colored with Stampin' Blends and and fit perfectly inside each of the three large die cut circles.

This stamp set, “Hippest Hippos” is so much fun to work with. And of course, it’s even better with the coordinating dies, “Hippo Dies“. I have also used the Amazing Phrasing stamp set for the greeting, I miss you, which is another Sale-a-bration item. Each of these items are available for FREE during Sale-a-bration! which is going on now through August 31, 2022. How do you get them for FREE?

Sale-a-bration happens twice a year for Stampin’ Up! Inside the Sale-a-bration brochure are lots of products for free when you purchase a specific amount of products from either the Annual Catalog or the Mini Catalog. The Hippest Hippos stamp set FREE with a $50 purchase and the Amazing Phrasing stamp set is FREE with another $50 purchase during Sale-a-bration! The coordinating dies, are also FREE with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-bration!

This particular card uses both the stamp set and the coordinating dies. And yes, these are the Hippest Hippos! I created this card for a good friend of mine that I miss terribly. I’m sure she will be delighted to receive this cute card.

  • Smokey Slate card stock 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
  • Basic Black card stock 4″ x 5 1/4″

  • Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 2 1/2″ x 6″ plus scraps for sentiment
  • DSP Abigail Rose 4″ x 5 1/4″

  1. Score the Smokey Slate card stock on the long side at 4 1/4″
  2. Adhere the Basic Black card stock to the front of the card base
  3. Using the Picture This dies, center on the Polished Pink card stock, run through the Die Cut machine
  4. Repeat with the Abigail Rose DSP, save the circle cut outs for another card or even the inside of the card
  5. Stamp each of the 3 hippos and the greeting in Tuxedo Momento Black Ink
  6. Color with Stampin’ Blends; hippos – light Smokey Slate, flower – dark Polished Pink , skirt – both light and dark Polished Pink , nails – light Polished Pink , leaf – dark Parakeet Party
  7. Die cut each of the hippos
  8. Place hippos in the window circles, figuring out exactly where you want them
  9. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adhere the bottom of the hippos to the back side of the Pink Passion panel
  10. Using Dimensionals behind the Pink Passion panel and the hippos, adhere to the card front (see photo below)
  11. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adhere the 3 small circles from the Abigail Rose DSP to the Basic Black card stock
  12. “Fussy” cut around the greeting, adhere to the front with a Dimensional in the middle of the greeting and Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the ends of the greeting.
  13. Add 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds to the front
  14. Add 3 of the circles to the Basic White panel for the inside of the card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue
  15. Adhere this to the inside of the card
Dimensionals are placed on the back side of the card front as well as on the Hippos.
Placing Dimensionals on the back side
I have used some of the leftover circles after die cutting both the Polished Pink card stock and Abigail Rose DSP.
Inside of card

I have had the Picture This Dies for awhile now and hadn’t used them. Once I had my hands on the Hippest Hippos and the Hippo Dies, I figured out how I could use them together. I did have to trim off the bottom part of each hippo so that they wouldn’t show in the hole below.

I’m thinking this turned out pretty cute, what do you think? Are you going to give this one a try? Don’t forget, you can get the “Hippest Hippos” stamp set and the “Hippo Dies” FREE with a $100 order.

I love these hippos; definitely my favorite stamp set in the Sale-a-bration brochure. Not only are they cute, but they put a smile on my face each time I look at them. I encourage you to get this stamp set as well as the dies; so much fun to work with! Won’t you recreate this card using different card stocks and colors?

Thanks for stopping by today! As always, have a stamp-happy day!
